Ever thought about gap year volunteering ? Perhaps volunteering in Malawi? Popular activities now include volunteering in Mombasa .What about spending part of your gap year on an African adventure? How about combining volunteering in Africa where you can make a positive impact on the lives of some of the poorest people in the world with an adventure holiday where you can go on a safari or climb up one of Africa’s highest mountains. This is your chance to see what Africa has to offer.
It is very easy to combine the two. As a matter of fact we recommend it and you deserve a reward after offering all your time to a volunteer project helping people less fortunate than yourself. Its not that volunteering in Africa is necessarily hard physical work all the time, but it many cases it can be tiring and in many cases it can affect your emotions. Even though Africa is one of the poorest continents in the world it is considered one of the best places to work as a volunteer because there are many projects within the local communities. The African continent is also one of the largest in the world so it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that there is a vast array of adventures activities to take part in.
Although Africa is rich in culture and has a wide range of diversity on the continent, sadly there are many areas most notably on the outskirts of major cities such as Cairo, Nairobi and Cape Town are home to people so poor they cannot afford food, health care and school. These areas are rife with diseases such as HIV and AIDS which is where these areas are home to so many orphaned children. A few weeks spent in these places, helping with volunteering teaching or as a volunteer medical assistant, really can change people’s lives.
This is the opportunity of a lifetime to help the people in Africa who really need it. These are some of the poorest people in the world and they need all the help they can get from volunteers. It is truly inspiring to see the way they live and the positive mental attitude they have aiming to get themselves out of poverty.
