Tent City Hire – Gympie Queensland



Sunshine Connections is an event management company operating in Gympie Queensland. It’s small team have been involved with annual National Country Music Muster since it’s inception in 1982 and official coordinators since 1988. This major event, held amongst the towering gums of Amamoor Creek State Forest Park every August, is one of Australia’s largest festivals, offering a feast of entertainment in 13 on-site venues. It is considered to be the most spectacular celebration of music in the country, the quintessential Aussie event, a hallmark Australian festival.

In 1995, our crew was invited to become involved in the logistics of the Waltzing Matilda Centenary to be held in Winton, Queensland. Security, food availability, water, transport, ablutions were just some of the things to be considered, but the major challenge was accommodation – this small outback town could only house a small fraction of the number of visitors expected. Sunshine Connections decided the most logical course of action was to purchase a number of tents and set up tent cities on three key locations within the town – named “Quartpot”, “Squatters Hill” and “Banjo Patterson’s”. “Banjo Patterson’s” was an upmarket tent city that even boasted room service and a restaurant with gourmet menu, fine wines and a qualified chef! The venture was a huge success.

The Sunshine Connections team realised that a similar service could assist patrons coming to the upcoming Muster, and “Banjo’s” was established on the banks of Amamoor Creek within the Muster site. The benefits were obvious immediately – patrons who didn’t have their own camping gear or were coming from interstate or overseas were not precluded from staying at the Muster – to say nothing of the patrons who just didn’t want the hassle of organising a camp. The service was easy, convenient and enjoyable for patrons. Other festival organisers were soon keen to be able to offer the same facility to their patrons.

Now nation-wide, ‘Tent City Hire’ services both annual and once-only events and festivals, conventions and corporate functions – in an amazing array of locations. The ‘Tent City Hire’ crew have worked their magic from deserts to forests to tropical islands, for one-day festivals to seven-week adventures, from outback stations to movie sets!

Your 200 guests have just finished their evening meal, they have been seated comfortably along natural pinewood tables & benches, hosted beneath 3 giant Kåtas which are joined together to create a single tent. Bottoms are warm and cosy resting on soft sheep skins, your guests are well fed and the sides of the tents are up, allowing their gazes to turn to the setting sun outside.

WE LOVE CANVAS.
Canvas tents have a long and illustrious history and inspire a feeling within people that the new uPVC shiny marquees cannot. One client came down and inhaled a great draught of air from around our vintage army tent and exclaimed, “Aaaahhhh, I love the smell of canvas. It reminds me of great times growing up and camping with my dad”. Canvas is a natural fabric, hard wearing, tough and has a pleasant buff feel to it. Our tents have been used for fashion shoot backdrops because of their canvas.

I had six honest serving men. They taught me all I knew: their names were Where and What and When and Why and How and Who.

Well, with a little help from Rudyard Kipling, we will answer the “Where and What and When and Why and How and Who” of Over The Moon Tents.

What
Over The Moon Tents hire a variety of canvas tents, tipis and yurts , as well as modern Intents, the Party Tent and the Pod Tent . We also provide flooring, lighting , DJ and production services. We have lots of experience to offer and are willing to answer questions, discuss options and be flexible to client’s needs. We are a small company and take pride in offerring good service and a unique tailored product.

When
When do you need us? Tents can go up all year round. More and more weddings are happening in Autumn and Winter, and birthday’s can be anytime of the year. The weather is an ever present figure in our work. Its all part of the service that we plan for the weather’s likely impacts, how it can be mitigated and a great event happen.

Over The Moon Tents offer a unique mix of skills, garnered over many years working outside to put on fun events that always have impact. Our tent crew’s are a friendly bunch, always willing to accomodate client’s needs’ and proffer advice if asked. We are happy in our work and we want to make the whole process a joy for the clients and their guests.
Our small size means that we offer a personal friendly service. The same person you speak to or email will be the same person who comes to do the site visit, and the same person who comes to put the tents up. None of a client’s requirements is lost in translation as we go through the whole process together.

Clients like our flexibility, it can be a contrast to many hotels and indoor wedding/event venues. Over The Moon Tents is not motivated by ensuring you spend a minimum of £10K as some hotels do. Getting your own venue and having tents can be much more magical AND save you a lot of money. You can often party much later into the night. theme the look and sequence to suit you, and save yourself expensive corkage on drinks by organising your own bar. Over The Moon Tents can provide clients who will testify to our ability. Contact us if you would like to speak to a refererence.

How
Bookings start with a look through our services and tents available on the website. The site is packed with photos, video’s, music and news to give a good overview of what tents we can offer. The next stage is to call us or email to tell us what you are interested in. We are happy to chat and discuss client’s plans.

Following this there may be a site visit and then a quote can be prepared. All quotes are clearly itemised and sent promptly. If all is agreeable to both parties then a 25% of the total hire fee will book Over The Moon Tents. The remaining 75% is payable two weeks prior to the event. Tents are usually erected one to two days prior to the event and removed within three days after.
Who
At its heart Over The Moon Tents is a family based business. James, Jackie and Bob Parker cover everything from sales, admin, marketing, crewing and maintenance. We work closely with other related businesses such as Intent Productions UK and Tipis4Hire, and have a team of part time staff who augment our crew when required.
